Shelbyville Central Schools Send $44.1 Million Budget to State

From the Shelbyville News:

The Shelbyville Central Schools board gave its final approval to the district's 2013 budget at Tuesday's monthly meeting, and now the financial plan will be sent to the state for changes.

The current budget, as advertised, is for $44.1 million, taking in about $15 million in property taxes at a rate of $1.69 per $100 of assessed valuation. SCS Business Manager Mike Shreves said that no one in the public made objections to that rate. The actual tax rates are expected to be much lower, closer to $1 per $100 of assessed valuation, after the state Department of Local Government Finance makes adjustments.

"Keep in mind, these are high numbers," Shreves told the board at the meeting. "They will be brought down through the formal review process with the state."

The board gave its approval 7-0.
