Wayne County Proposes $13.95 Million Budget for 2013

From the Richmond Palladium-Item:

The Wayne County Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2013 county budget after the group’s regular meeting Wednesday.

The hearing tentatively is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

The budget is $13.95 million in the general, or tax, fund. That’s up less than 1 percent from the present-year budget of $13.88 million.

The proposed budget is $33.647 million in all funds, down about 1 percent from this year’s $33.868 million.

The proposed budget is balanced and includes a slight pay increase for most of the county’s 367 full-time employees and 40 part-time employees.

Council members might propose some additional changes during Wednesday’s meeting, and the public will have a chance to comment on the planned budget.

The budget adoption hearing has been set for Oct. 17 at about 5:30 p.m.
