Arts Council Awards $75,000 from Arts Institute Fund

The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana has awarded $75,000 to seven collaborative arts education projects in Vanderburgh County.

The Creative Collaborative Grants Program awards, announced Friday, ranged from $3,048 to $18,950. They went to programs and projects involving a visiting artist, raku pottery, arts careers, classical music, theater and summer performing arts education

Funding for the grants comes from the Arts Institute Fund, a program created by the state Legislature use a percentage of each county's property taxes for arts related projects. The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. last year designated the Arts Council to decide how to distribute the funding, which came to $375,000.

Other recipients have included the Evansville Museum and the Public Education Foundation.
