Montgomery County Reaps Benefits of TIF-Financed Improvements

From the Crawfordsville Journal-Review:

Montgomery County Economic Development officials announce that Winston Smith plans to locate a logistics facility in Montgomery County.

The company has acquired property on the southeast quadrant of the Smartsburg interchange on Interstate 74 and estimates hiring some 20 employees by 2014, according to a MCED press release issued Wednesday morning.
“This is the second company we’ve announced in the Nucor Road Development Area this year,” said Montgomery County Commissioner Terry Hockersmith. “We are starting to see the sewer infrastructure investment and development strategies pay off for the community.”

The company is located inside the 13,000 acre Tax Increment Finance District established by county officials to help finance infrastructure improvements and attract new industries to the area. Hockersmith noted that in the first quarter of this year the county welcomed Herr-Voss Stamco to the community and now Winston Smith has announced plans to bring more jobs to the area.
