Bartholomew County taxpayers will soon receive their spring property tax bills.
The Treasurer's Office reported that the bills will be mailed Friday; payments are due by May 10.
Taxpayers can settle up by mailing a copy of their statement and their payment to Bartholomew County Treasurer’s office, Box 1986, Columbus, IN 47201. Mailed payments must be post marked by the due date.
Payments along with a copy of the bill also can be dropped in the 24-hour drop box on the Third Street side of the county government building at 440 Third St or at the treasurer's office, inside the government building, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will be closed May 8 for the election.
Other options include paying bills at Centra Credit Union, First Financial Bank, Indiana Bank & Trust, Jackson County Bank, Mainsource Bank or Salin Bank.
Taxpayers also can pay via credit card, instructions are printed on the back of tax statements and are available at bartholomewco.com. Credit card companies will assess a fee.
The county charges of five-percent penalty for payments up to 30 days late. After June 9, the penalty increases to 10 percent.
