Thousands May Lose Homestead Credit in Boone County

From the Lebanon Reporter:

Nearly 3,000 Boone County homeowners could pay thousands of dollars more in property taxes next year by failing to verify they have a homestead credit.
Property owners received a “Form 11” on pink paper with tax bills mailed in March, but thousands of people have failed to return the forms, which allows them to deduct  $45,000 from their property tax bill.
Homestead verification forms have been mailed for the last three years, but as of Monday, 2,900 people had not verified they qualify for the exemption — and without that verification, they could see tax bills triple what they expected.
