From the Kokomo Tribune:
Chrysler Group LLC officials confirmed Thursday they’ll be asking the Kokomo Common Council for a new tax abatement, adding to news last week that the company is seeking abatements in Tipton County.
Tipton County officials have confirmed Chrysler’s interest in the former Getrag plant, a vacant 800,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, which was built to produce transmissions for the former Chrysler Corp. The facility was never finished.
Kokomo’s council president, Mike Kennedy, D-At Large, said he understands the latest Chrysler request is tied to the Tipton request, but said he hasn’t been given details.

In Tipton County, Chrysler appears ready to assemble a new, 9-speed transmission at the former Getrag plant.
That would potentially impact Chrysler’s Kokomo operations; as earlier this year, Chrysler officials led a tour of the Indiana Transmission Plant 1, on Kokomo’s north side, where renovation work was under way to install a new production line for 9-speed transmissions.
The Kokomo Common Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in council chambers, City Hall, 100 S. Union St., to consider the abatement request.
