Burns Harbor to Consider Abatement Request for Indiana Flame Service

Steel mill contractor Indiana Flame Service plans to spend $14 million to upgrade technology and equipment at its Burns Harbor and Gary operations and create 24 new jobs in Northwest Indiana by 2015, the state's economic development agency said Friday.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. also said Indiana Flame Service will relocate a portion of its research and development activity to Burns Harbor from France.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Indiana Flame Service up to $240,000 in performance-based training grants based on the job creation plans as presented. The town of Burns Harbor will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the nonprofit organization Duneland Economic Development Co.
