The state and nine companies announced today new investments in Indiana expected to create a combined 2,552 new jobs over the next few years.
The big jobs announcement, made at the Statehouse by Gov. Mitch Daniels, includes Angie's List of Indianapolis creating up to 850 new jobs by 2017, and BidPal Inc. of Indianapolis creating up to 172 jobs by 2017.
Companies that announced expansions, along with the economic incentives they received, are:
Angie's List, a provider of consumer reviews on service companies. It plans to invest approximately $1 million in Indianapolis, creating up to 850 new jobs by 2017. State tax credits: $7 million. Training grants: $200,000.
Elkhart-based Atwood Mobile Products, a recreational vehicle parts maker. It will invest $5.9 million to consolidate manufacturing operations in Elkhart County from Michigan, Tennessee and other locations, creating up to 132 new jobs by 2015. State tax credits: $700,000. Training grants: $120,000.
BidPal Inc., an Indianapolis handheld bidding device company that aids nonprofits in fundraising. It will invest $3.5 million to expand its Northside offices, creating up to 172 new jobs by 2017. It will also acquire more information technology and telecommunications equipment. State tax credits: $2.15 million.
Brunswick Fort Wayne Operations, producer of Harris FloteBote and Cypress Cay pontoon boats. It plans to expand its operations in northern Indiana, creating up to 200 new jobs by 2016. State tax credits: $2.58 million. Training grants: $50,000.
Phoenix, Ariz.-based Café Valley, Inc., a producer of baked goods. It plans to construct a new facility on the former Thompson Consumer Electronic site in Marion, creating up to 400 new jobs by the end of 2018. State tax credits: $5.8 million.
ExactTarget, an Indianapolis software company. It will invest $55 million in equipment and real estate to expand its Indianapolis operations over the next five years, creating up to 500 new jobs by 2018. State tax credits: $10 million. Training grants: $200,000.
Inventure Foods a marketer and manufacturer of specialty food brands, will expand its Bluffton operations, creating up to 80 new jobs by 2015. State tax credits: $425,000. Training grants: $75,000.
Mitsubishi Engine North America, which will begin manufacturing turbochargers for automobiles in the United States and will invest $10.8 million to locate its first plant on Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Climate Control's campus in Franklin, creating up to 73 new jobs by 2016. State tax credits: $600,000. Training grants: $100,000.
Moorehead Communications Inc., the largest Verizon Wireless premium retailer in the nation. It plans to expand its Indiana operations, creating up to 145 new jobs by 2016. State tax credits: $1.2 million. Training grants: $200,000.
Many of the companies also are in line to receive property tax abatement for their projects from local governments. The full value of the economic incentives will be given only if the companies follow through on their job creation plans.
