From the Richmond Palladium Item:
Two well-known but frightfully neglected properties top the list of the Wayne County Commissioners' Sale, planned for April 17 at the Wayne County Commissioners Chambers.
Bradford Apartments, the one-time elegant building of fashionable flats at 1200 E. Main St. in Richmond, and the former Economy Tile Co. property in Economy are the two most noteworthy properties in the sale.
Bidding for both properties begins at $500 that day.
"Those are two of the far better properties that are there," said Commissioner Ken Paust. "We think it will be an interesting sale. Our goal is to get those properties back on the tax rolls."
There are 59 properties in the sale, many just small strips of land.
When taxes on the properties go unpaid, properties are first sold at a tax sale. If they don't sell then, the county holds a commissioners' sale and the bidding starts at $100 for properties that don't contain any structures and $500 for those that do.
