Living Essentials Approved for Abatement for Expansion in Wabash

From the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette:

Living Essentials on Wednesday announced plans to invest $25.5 million and create up to 200 new jobs by 2013 as it builds and equips a new Wabash factory to make its 5-hour Energy supplement drinks and possible future products.

The Farmington Hills, Mich.-based company already employs 370 in Wabash at two plants that produce 5-hour Energy. The company sells more than 9 million bottles each week.

The company plans to begin hiring immediately for positions including engineers, production and administration. The 1 million-square-foot factory, being built in two or three phases, is expected to open in September 2013 in the Wabash Business Center.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $375,000 in training grants, which depend on meeting hiring projections. The city of Wabash also approved a property tax abatement.

Gov. Mitch Daniels attended the company’s Wednesday morning announcement.
