Times Reports Harrison Electric Offered Incentives for Investment in Michigan City

From the Northwest Indiana Times:

An electric motor repair company in Michigan City plans to invest $1 million to expand operations, adding 14 new jobs.
Harrison Electric Inc., 10855 W. 400, will construct and equip a 15,000-square-foot expansion to its 23,000-square-foot facility, according to a news release issued by the Indiana Economic Development Corp. on Wednesday.
The facility is expected to be operational by December and will help the company double its lifting capacity of electric motors to 40 tons.
"With the current limitations of our facility, we were being forced to turn down work," said Tom Walma, president of Harrison Electric, in a statement.
"I'm pleased that we will be able to say 'yes' to additional projects while remaining here in Indiana, where lower taxes, great employees and abundant support form local and state leaders will allow us to continue growing our business right here at home."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp., which serves as the state's department of commerce, offered Harrison Electric up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. The performance-based incentives make the funds contingent upon hiring Indiana residents.
LaPorte County approved additional tax abatements.
