Star Press Reports Yorktown Considers 2014 Budget

The 2014 budget for Yorktown is coming together.

The Yorktown Town Council met for an administrative session at the Yorktown Town Hall conference room after the monthly town council meeting. The meeting was open to the public, but no public input was taken.

The town has yet to receive an assessed value from the county.

“Because we don’t have the assessed value at this point, we’re kind of flying blind,” said Town Manager Pete Olson. The assessed value is used to determine property taxes, which will make up a significant portion of the town budget. After the meeting, Olson said that he expected the town to get the assessed value in the coming weeks.
