News Sentinel Reports BRC Rubber & Plastics and Press-Seal Gasket Corp Seek Abatement from Fort Wayne

From the Fort Wayne News - Sentinel:

Developers of $18.3 million in projects that are expected to create 130 full-time jobs are seeking tax breaks from City Council.
BRC Rubber & Plastics Inc., a molder of automotive products, would create 55 full-time jobs by investing $365,000 in its facility at 1029 W. State Blvd. Press-Seal Gasket Corp., 2424 W. State Blvd., plans $3 million in improvements expected to create 14 full-time positions and a previously announced $15 million long-term care facility at Aboite Center Road and West Jefferson Boulevard is expected to create 61 full-time and 34 part-time jobs.
All are seeking tax “phase-ins,” previously known as abatements, which temporarily reduce taxes owed on new buildings and equipment.

As The News-Sentinel reported in March, the Aboite Center-Jefferson site had been cleared years ago to make room for a medical park that was never built. But Long-Term Care Inc. of South Bend intends to build a 53,000-square-foot nursing facility on a portion of the site.
The city is creating a special district in the area that will capture some of the taxes generated there in order to pay for infrastructure improvements, including the extension of utility lines to nearby homes. The Redevelopment Commission approved creation of the “economic development area” Monday.
