Revenue Offers Tax Assistance to Victims of March Tornados

The Indiana Department of Revenue has established specific tax support policies for individual and business taxpayers in those areas of southern Indiana most affected by the March 2, 2012, tornadoes.

The Department will work with any taxpayer to provide assistance in filing taxes, receiving a replacement refund check, arranging for extended payments against existing obligations, coordinating late filing of individual income tax estimated payments, obtaining duplicate past filings for official purposes (for assistance, loans, etc.) or duplicate supporting documents or other assistance.

Any taxpayer in the following ZIP codes can call our special telephone number and leave their name, problem, and a return telephone number. A representative of the Department will return their call within 24 hours to provide guidance and assistance.

The special telephone contact number is 317-233-5212.

Business taxpayers who need assistance in filing any business taxes, including annual filing, sales tax filing or withholding filing and payments, can also use this contact number for help.

The ZIP codes representing affected portions of Clark, Harrison, Jefferson, Ripley , Scott, Warrick and Washington counties are:

47023, 47037, 47106, 47120, 47126, 47138, 47141, 47143, 47147, 47162, 47163, 47165, 47167, 47243, 47630

Taxpayers in these ZIP codes who cannot file annual tax returns on time can obtain a special waiver to file later without accruing penalties or interest, but taxpayers must contact the Department directly to obtain this waiver.
