Cook Medical Promotes On-Line Effort to Oppose New Medical-Device Tax

From the Indianapolis Star:

Cook Medical is promoting a national tax rebellion -- on the Internet.

The Bloomington medical device company sponsors a website to gather signatures opposing a new 2.3 percent federal tax on sales of medical-device products. The tax on everything from walkers to artificial knees is part of the new health-care act backed by President Barack Obama and upheld last week by the Supreme Court.

The site, www.no2point3.com, has more than 8,500 supporters.

Indiana's 769 signers were second only to California's 2,105 in their anti-tax sentiment.
