House Votes to Repeal Medical Devices Tax

From the Indianapolis Star:

The head of medical device maker Cook Group in Bloomington got his wish: The U.S. House voted Thursday night to repeal a 2.3 percent excise tax on medical device sales.

Cook Chairman Steve Ferguson said the tax on gross sales of its products would force device companies to curtail investments in the U.S. and cut workers.

The tax was passed as part of the health-care reform law to help pay for its expansion of health-care coverage.
