The Wayne County commissioners approved a $30,000 Economic Development Income Tax grant for Paragon Caskets Inc. at their meeting Wednesday. The grant was approved Monday by the Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County board.
Paragon recently purchased Romark Industries, enabling its expansion from casket distribution only to distribution and manufacturing. All 24 positions at Romark and five positions at Paragon will be retained. The company plans to add 11 jobs by the end of 2015.
The EDIT grant funds will be used to purchase equipment and provide training for employees.
The company will keep the name Paragon Caskets and move to Romark’s 51,000-square-foot facility at 1751 S. Eighth St. in Richmond.
